PM Says Gov’t Listened and Heard the People »

“We have listened and we have heard,” was Prime Minister Bruce Golding’s response to public criticism of the tax package announced in the House of Representatives, last week Thursday.

In a national broadcast Wednesday night (December 23), Mr. Golding said, “the response from the people of Jamaica has been loud and profound.”

FINANCE MINISTER Audley Shaw yesterday announced the largest tax package of the calendar year as the Government moved to plug a $17.9-billion hole in the Budget.

The package, the third announced by Shaw this fiscal year, is intended to raise $21.8 billion annualised through the medium term.
